Ben is an independent choreographer and movement director working in contemporary dance, opera and theatre and the associate choreographer for Sweden’s largest Independent dance company Skånes Dansteater.
He trained at The Ballet Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and worked primarily as a performer between 1991 - 2006.
From 2014 – 2017 he worked as the associate artistic director at Skånes Dansteater and his recent work for the ensemble includes Spectrum (2017), To see the world while the light lasts (2016) and The Feeling of Going (2015) - a fully orchestrated staging of Scandinavian pop legend Jonsi’s album GO in collaboration with Malmö Opera. In autumn 2018 this ground-breaking work will be televised for SVT in a production produced by Skånes Dansteater, Malmö Opera, 3 Minutes West and Stepping Ground.
Other work for the company includes Small Acts, The Ghost Spot and A Summoning.
In 2008 he launched his own company bgroup creating The Diminishing Present, About Around, The Lessening of difference and Just As We Are for the ensemble. Bgroup’s new work Point of Echoes will premiere in Autumn 2017.
In 1995 he co-created the Role of the Prince in Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake and performed the role in seasons throughout the UK, London’s West End, Los Angeles, Broadway, Japan and South Korea.

During his performing career Ben toured the USA with Sinner for Stan Won't Dance and has worked for Adventures in Motion Pictures, Ricochet, London Contemporary Dance Theatre, Richard Alston and Amanda Miller’s Company: Pretty Ugly.
He danced in work by the likes of
Mark Morris, Stephen Petronio, Christopher Bruce, Angelin Prejlocaj, Russell Maliphant, Aletta Collins and Improbable Theatre’s Phelim McDermott.
Ben is also an experienced independent teacher who regularly mentors younger artists, and teaches nationally and internationally. He has taught throughout the vocational training sector in Britain and for many of the UK”s National Dance Agencies.
As an actor, Ben joined Nicholas Hytner’s premiere season of His Dark Materials at The National Theatre in 2004, where amongst other roles he created the part of The Golden Monkey.
As a choreographer he has created student and postgrad work for Trinity Laban, The Place, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, London Studio centre amongst others.
